A.R Rahman seems to have delivered yet another modern and contemproray music album with Jaane Tu. A year ago, this seemed unlikely and the music was not doing well but then Aamir stepped in and the troubles vanished. He made a few changes and now Jaane Tu might cash in nicely. He replace Himesh with A.R. Rahman, the best of course and needless to say, he did the right thing.

Rahman might not have given the same sounds as in the royal Jodha Akbar, but then this film is a light hearted comedy based around the lives of a few college friends. Nevertheless, he has given us a truly refreshing experience with his latest work after Ada, another soulful album.

The trademarks of Rahman, style and classy tunes are abundant in all the tracks with lots of retro guitar fills and interludes. This adds a certain degree of modernism. The best example is the ultra chic and melodious song, Kabhi Kabhi Aditi Zindagi. The catchy tunes and brilliant singing make the song beautiful. It is funky and the guitar fills adds rhythm and mood to the song. Rashid Aliís singing are a breath of fresh air!

Then the peppy Pappu Cant Dance song is another well composed piece with intense drumming and some really inventive rythms and Abbasí nonsensical lyrics the pupose being fun and masti. Close listening will reveal the carefully composed song which seems plain to average ears. Guitar riffs in this one are also awesome. Kahin To Hogi Ho is a signature Rahman track which is absolutely enchanting and meaningful.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naaís title track is sober and but lacks any of Rahmanís unique tunes as in the other tracks. Howver, the Jazz based Tu Bole Main Boloon is a creative and skillful piece using classical instruments. This one is song by Rahman himself and he sounds fresh as ever.

Needless to say, this is one of the best albums of the year so far.
